According to the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) and Ministry of Education, the 2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results indicate an improved performance by students in comparison to the prior year, 2019.

More than 2000 candidates’ results for the Primary Leaving Examination were withheld by the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) due to suspected examination malpractice.

Districts in the Rwenzori region, especially Bundibugyo and Kasese, have the most withheld PLE results.

As soon as the hearings are over, the Board will publish a list of schools and districts whose results will be void in the media.

In 2020, 749,761 candidates from 14,300 centers (schools) registered for PLE, up from 695,804 in 2019.

From these 14,300 centers, 513,085 (68.4%) are Universal Primary Education (UPE) beneficiaries, and 236,677 (31.6%) are non-UPE candidates.
